to help non-Manx - Conchan is old name for Onchan - this is parish north of Douglas - pre Douglas becoming a borough in 1860's all of Douglas bar a very small amount on South Quay was in the civil parish of Onchan but in the ecclesiastical parish of Braddan. (Lord street is in the heart of old Douglas - Big Well street where the Duffs were in 1841 was the continuation of Lord street westward and after the slum clearance of late 1890's the redeveloped road became Lord street along all its length)
Balla Quinney moar (or mooar = Manx for big used to distinguish from BQ beg (or small))

any thing with a Manx Connection

Hi

Never fails to amaze what you can pickup on Rootschat.

I can now use Manx in the pub  ;D
"Just a mooar one, then" or "a swift beg before I go"

CHEERS!

On Family Search at one of their children's Florence's christening the mother middle (maiden?) name is listed as Waller

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/X5GW-HXX

So maybe this is their marriage in the Isle of Man in 1865

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NKDQ-NMV

Manx baptisms tend to quote the mother's maiden name - and this doesn't get transcribed properly by FamilySearch!

Using Lawson's BMD database (http://www.iomfhs.im/lawsons/LawsonBMD/births/ha.html). the baptism for Florence shows her parents as:
Thomas Huntley and Mary Waller.

Ray - try Traa di Looar = Time enough.
It's like manana, without the urgency! ;D

Hi

Tidy up =

1871 Ancestry had Thomas as "Hunsly" - So prefer Kay's answer to mine.

Thomas' son Thomas lists himself as Thomas Waller Huntley if anyone wants to search for him in the census we can't look up for anyone.
