The New Scavenger Hunt !! - Everyone Welcome To Join In.
« on: Tuesday 25 June 13 12:59 BST (UK) »
Hi Everyone,
Hope I'm doing this right.

Perkins Family

Nathaniel Perkins (born 1787 died 1836 Leicester) married Hannah Blunt (born 1803 Leicester)    1825 ST Nicholas Parish.
Had children before & after marriage :
(William Frederick 1820, Harriet 1823, Richard 1826, Nathaniel 1829, Mary 1831 & Helen 1835?

Husband Nathaniel died 1836.  Hannah remarried William Yeomanson  same year 1836.

Now following Hannah's  2nd marriage to William Yeomanson
 1841  census (Yeomanson spelled wrong)

Wm Germanson 20
Hannah Germanson 35
William Germanson 4
Sarah Germanson 2
Richard Perkins 15 **born 1826 from 1st marriage
Hannah Perkins 10 **born 1831   who's this? born same year as Mary Perkins?
  where's Helen born 1835?

Mary was with brother Nathaniel in 1841 Gelding Nottingham living with Sharpe Family. Where Mother, Hannah was in Nottingham with William Yeomanson.

Then everyone moved back to Leicester after that.

daughter Harriet Perkins married Luke Fellows (1847)
1851 census
has Lodgers living with them the Perkins family.
James Perkins 51 widow (wife's name was Ann)
James Perkins 23
Mary Ann Perkins 19 ***born abt 1832  (is this the missing Mary)
Frances Perkins 17

Now in 1841 you will see James & Ann Perkins their children but you will see Harriet & Mary there also. Hannah born 1821 age 20, either is James's daughter or Hannah & Nathaniel's ?

I’m thinking Father Nathaniel died 1836 and mother married same year, kids are staying with relatives.

I have no idea who James Perkins is   I have searched high & low to see if he was Nathaniel's brother, maybe he's a cousin. found nothing.

I searched for James & Ann to see all there children, and nothing came up.

I ran searches to see if Nathaniel's parents had other children and nothing came up.
(Perkins name misspelled below)
James Peckins 45
Ann Peckins 50
Hannah Peckins 20
Harriett Peckins 15 **
Samuel Peckins 15
James Peckins 16
Mary Peckins 10 **
Fanny Peckins 6
Mary was with brother Nathaniel in 1841 Gelding Nottingham living with Sharpe Family.  Where mother Hannah was living in Nottingham with William Yeomanson.  Then the Yeomanson's moved back to Leicester after that.

In 1851 Harriet Fellows (nee Perkins) & Luke Fellows has Perkins family Lodgers living with them.  James Perkins is a widow (wife Ann died)
James Perkins    51
James Perkins    23
Mary Ann Perkins    19
Frances Perkins    17        Now in 1841 you will see James & Ann Perkins,  children but you will see Harriet & Mary there also.   Are they James & Ann's or Hannah & Nathaniel's?

I searched for James Perkins who married Ann Holyoak
 Market Harborough   04-Oct   1819   B
James    Perkins   OTP      Bach
Ann   Holyoak   OTP    Spinster,   Nothing came up for children.

Also trying to confirm Nathaniel's parents, I have them as Nathaniel Perkins and Mary Heathcoat
but can't confirm it.  I may have got the names from a tree or search.

thank you very much and hope to figure this out.

Vicky

Found this a bit confusing to unravel but these are my findings so far:

1. Helen bp.1835 appears to be the illegitimate daughter of a Hannah Perkins.   Nathaniel still alive then.   In 1841 an Ellen Perkins living with an Elizabeth Gray and family in St. Margaret's, Leicester.   Don't think she belonged to Nathaniel and Hannah.

2. Unless you have details from the marriage certificate to prove otherwise, I don't believe it was the daughter of Nathaniel who married Luke Fellows.   I believe she was the daughter of James.   James and his family all born Market Harborough, not in Leicester, and Luke's wife Harriet is born Market Harborough, not Leicester.

3. Nathaniel Perkins bc.1787, bur.22/3/1836 Leicester.

Hi Annette,
I agree I don't think Helen was the daughter, thanks for your input on that. Sorry I know my details were many, confusing too.

The Harriet Perkins I have :
     Birth
    1823 22 May
Welford Road, Saint Mary De Castro, Leicester
Batch #C03463-1  GS Film number585274
Batch #C00974-6  GS Film #592564 Reference ID yr 1820-1836 p 296

Harriet was born in Leicester and married in Market Harborough.   James I was hoping to find out who he is, a relative i'm sure but can't tract him or his parents.

Nathaniel Perkins bc.1787, bur.22/3/1836 Leicester.    This is correct but can I ask did you find a birth on him?  I seem to have lost it and where I found it from.  Greatly Appreciated.

The NBI has Nathaniel's death in 1836 Leics. St. Mary's aged 49 (b.1787)
There's also a Nathaniel Perkins death in 1839 Leics. Whetstone aged 84 (b.1755)
There's a Christening for a Nathaniel Perkins Dec. 1755 Whetstone parents Joseph & Elizabeth
There's a marriage for a Nathaniel Perkins 1781 Countesthorpe Leics. = Mary Heathcote.
I can't see any children for this couple but it looks like someone made the assumption.

Hi Jim, Thanks for responding. Yes you're right on all of it. I have them as his parents but can't recall where I got the info from.  There are very few Nathaniel Perkins and it seems they all belong to me somewhere in the line.  Maybe I assumed but can't recall where I got this info.  Do you have any idea how to get his birth 1787 if the parents are wrong or I don't know who they are?    Much appreciated.  Vicky

There's an Ancestry tree where someone's done some quite comprehensive research & has Nathaniel born St. Nicholas Leics. to Nathaniel & Mary Heathcote.
It looks like the tree owner has sent away for the fiches & gives this ref.
