Using the 1881 census entry for the family, and taking an unusual forename - Theophilus, aged 9.

Birth registration in 1871 - Clifton, then using GRO new facility, mother's maiden name = Lavender.

Going back to Louisa - December quarter 1855 in Wolverhampton District - mmn = Lavender.

Marriage - September quarter 1850 - Wolverhampton District

Robert Groves and Elizabeth Lavender

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

I notice that this thread was started in 2004 by Marjorie who hasn't logged in since 2012.  As her email address no longer works, don't be disappointed if she doesn't respond.

Doh - well spotted.  Never mind, if someone else needs the information, it is there.  :)

;D Yes you're right, this sort of information never goes out of date - unlike a lot of 'Lazarus' threads I've seen lately with all sorts of ancient wisdom including loads of broken links - completely useless, they are ;D
