Hyams family in Melbourne
« on: Sunday 30 June 13 21:45 BST (UK) »
I am looking for any records about a Jewish family who moved from London to Australia about 1883. The father was called Samuel Hyams b 1850 and mother Amelia . They had 10 children including Abigail b 1880 and Miriam (who I believe was really Maria) b 1882 born in London. The 5 children after that I believe were born in Australia . Is anyone researching the family or any advice on records to look at?  Abigail and Miriam married two brothers called Freedman . How can I find the ship they travelled to Australia in?

Many thanks

bellou  :) :)

Best place to start is with the reources section at the very top of the Australian Board.

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/board,399.0.html

In there you will find links to most of what you are after starting with the Victorian Resources.
I am sure you will find it informative and interesting. ;D
If you get stuck just refer back to this post.
The Vic BDM should give you all the details including any marriages, it is a pay per view site however. >:(
