Date that the Dean Orphanage closed down. Can anyone out there help?

I believe that the Dean Orphange in Edinburgh was opened in 1833 and in 1999 it was redeveloped and is now the Dean Gallery. What I can't seem to find out is the date that it closed its doors to orphans. Can anyone out there help. Thanking you in advance.

If you google 'dean orphanage edinburgh' a page for history of the orphanage comes up. There is a comment from the person who was the last child to leave

'"I  was the last person to leave the Dean when it closed to Orphans. Mr Barnes the Governor saw me out with a couple of blankets under my arm.  I went of to stay with my married sister for a short while.

I have made contact with one other ex-inmate in Oz.  Are there any more out there?"'

Hi Heather. Your prompt response is most appreciated. I have been on the Orphanage history site and noted Donald Veale's comment. The thing is, although he tells us that he was one of the last people to leave the orphanage he doesn't actually give a date. Can you enlighten me? Thanks again.

Dean Orphanage is still operating in Edinburgh and has never stopped providing residential care to young people since 1733 as far as I am aware. I am the Acting Director and the charity is called Dean Orphanage and Cauvin's Trust. Hope this helps
