Look up request Mary Winifred Davies born 1894, when did she marry?

We have been emailed a copy of a family photo.  No-one in the family can identify the sitters. There is no photographers ID on it.  I have tried to attach it to this post but apparantly its too big.

It is a wedding photo taken during world war 1 and the groom is in army Uniform.

The location is in front of the Unitarian Church in Lampeter.

The family were Unitarians.

After much search I find that a cousin of my mother's woud have been the right age for the bride and she lived in the area at the time.

I would be grateful if someone could find a marriage fo the lady.

Mary Winifred Davies, born Llanelli 1894. Census 1901 and 1911 with her parents in Pencarreg , Carmarthenshire.  Her parents were Evan Joshua Davies (born Silian , Lampeter,1865/1866) and Margaret Davies same birth year.

I would be grateful too for a marriage date for Evan and Margaret, where they actually lived in Pencarreg and if there were more children.  There is a boy of about 7  with a gent in the photo and we have another snap showing the same two together. .Both photos were kept together and must have been treasured.A tall order I know.  But if a kind member could solve this matter it would be wonderful.

If Mary Winifred is the bride, then we may by guessing perhaps be able to add names to other members of the photograph.

At present we do not know which side of the photo is our family.  The boys?  The girl's?!!!!

Lampeter is Cardiganshire - not Carmarthenshire - but there is no Mary W Davies marriage up to 1918

The border between Lampeter, Cardigan and Carmarthenshire is at Pencarreg.

Silian is Cardiganshire and Pencarreg over the border is Carmarthenshire.

The  family seems to have settled in Cwmann, Pencarreg, which they always refer to as Lampeter which is of course not correct, but it lies as a suburb to Lampeter.

Evan Joshua and his parents and siblings moved from Silian to Pencarreg around 1871.  Evan Joshua must have had work in Llanelli for a time and whether he married there or took his wife there and the daughter was born we have little idea.

If the marriage was in Lampeter Unitarian Chapel - Googling shows it's address as Cardigan.

However - a blanket search in every county up to 1925 has lots of Mary Davies marriages but the only ones for Mary W Davies is March 1924 Corwen or October 1925 Swansea

So she did marry but she is not the  blushing bride in the photo!

We don't know if she is either of the marriages I found - I was just saying that they were the only 2 up to 1925 with a middle initial W.

She may have married just as Mary Davies and dropped the Winifred

This is the Corwen marriage you found and her census 1901 and 1911.

In this day and age I would have dropped Winifred too!

I wonder if she did.  If so then I'm lost. It would be as bad as looking for a Jane Smith!  I did find a couple of other Mary Winifreds so she did not suffer alone!


Corwen does seem a long way for her to have travelled from home though.

Thinking about it...its more likely that Mary Winifred married in Swansea.  Will have a look at that one.  Thanks Sandra
