Hi robandrob2,

 ;D  Welcome to RootsChat  ;D

It was Mary Ann, daughter of Ann who was admitted to the orphan school.  The children appear to have been using the name DYKE, not JOHNSON.  You can search for them here:

I have now seen her orphanage papers. Thank you so much for your help.  The papers do say that the mothers name is Ann but also followed with /Sarah ???

Hi Heather, my name is Graham Ballard & Amelia Dyke is my Great Great Grandmother. My mother is the granddaughter of Amelia Donnell, born in Oatlands, Tasmania in 1879. We would love to hear from you as we have no history of Amelia Dyke other than that she is named as mother on the Birth Certifcate for Amelia Donnell, of which we have the original.
Hope to hear from you,
Regards,
Graham
