« on: Sunday 12 June 05 18:55 BST (UK) »
Hello

I'd be very greatful if someone could look up the following person (& household) for me please on 1851 & 1861 census please?

William Draper WOOD   b1843 Gosberton Clough?

On 1871 census he was aged 27, living at Gosberton Clough.

Thank you very much!

Thank you for that.  I was hoping he would be with his parents, but at 17 years old i guess I would have been lucky! I also expected him to be a Blacksmiths Apprentice.  :)

Thanks again for your help JanetM.

I'd be very grateful for the 1851 is anyone has access please. He may be shown as WOOD or WOODS

I have found him in 1851

2096/147
Caythorpe Rd, Donington
Charlotte WOOD (wid) 28 Annuitant, Gosberton
George 9 Notts Mansfield
William D 7 Gosberton
Elizabeth DRAPER (lodger, wid) 68 Annuitant, Fullerby
Sarah A CLARKE (vis) 19 Gosberton
Mary A WILLSON (vis) 14 Gosberton

Having Widow Draper there seems to clinch it!

Someone seems to have done some guesswork on IGI - it may be worth following up though:-

Charlotte Draper
  Event(s):
Birth:  1823   Gosberton Fen, Lincoln, England
Marriages:
  Spouse:  George Wood  Family
  Marriage:  1841   , Lincoln, England

Thank you Geoff

On IGI I found a William Woods bapt 23 April 1844 Gosberton, parent Elizabeth Woods (no farther). I was thinking maybe William was illegitimate and his mother used the farthers surname (Draper) as his second name. So having found him on the 1851 census is very helpful! Thank you.

Hi angelfish. I don't know if you are still researching William Draper Wood. i've just joined Roots chat and seen your message about finding his parents and siblings. His mum is Charlotte Wood (nee Draper) my great, great grandma. She married George Wood and had two children. Sadly George died in 1854 I think and Charlotte then married Joseph Coates. They had another 6 children and my great granny is one of them. I know very little about George Wood, (William Draper Woods father), but I'm back to 1762 on the Draper line.

Hi Cousin!

I'm not researching them any longer, I found out quite a lot and littered the internet with information about them during the last 14 years haha. But it was kind of you to check. Thanks.

I have the Drapers back to William Draper bn c1776 (because his obituary said he was 70 when he died in 1846, and the death registration said 69). I have no reliable source for his parents or his birth or baptism.
Maybe you could help me with this? Thanks.
