Could anyone tell me where baptisms would have taken place in 1700s Beds, please ?

they would have taken place in every parish in the county so could we have a little more detail please

There were about one hundred and seventy parishes in Bedfordshire in the 1700s all of which would conduct their own baptisms.  Of these five were in the town of Bedford.

C of E Baptisms were in the font in the parish church. The Baptist Denomination did do full immersion but they did not baptise babies. There was a Baptist Chapel in Stevington.

For much of their history, Baptists practised baptism in local rivers and lakes. Today many Baptist Chapels have a large "bath" in which to carry out total immersion.
