Charles Alexander Pahl was buried 30th July 1845, at Norwood Cemetery.  HE was aged 38

For interest: CAroline Sophia Pahl married several times:
1) THomas Cove (1857)
2) Thomas Waring Wolloms (1858)
3) James Eaton (1884)

Marriage

Jan/Feb/mar 1848
Lambeth
Ref  4 231

Henry Waterloo Nickels and Mary Sophia Pahl on same page

So - I think (and it is only a think) Caroline Pahl is not a true blood niece to Christopher. It is her step dad, Henry Waterloo Nickels who is probably Christophers brother

Ok, Henry Waterloo NIckels married Mary Sophia Pahl on 13th March 1848 at All Saints, Lambeth.  Henry gives his father's name as John Nickels (decd) mechanic.  Both are noted as being widow/widower

Looking that way - beginning to make sense of the family now!

Henry's first marriage was to Sarah Barnes in 1839 at All Saints Poplar.  Henry, his father John Nickels and Sarah's father William Barnes are all noted as being cabinet makers.  Sarah is a minor.

Sarah Nickels was buried 8th Feb 1848 at Norwood Cemetery, aged 48.

So her body was nearly cold by the time Henry remarried  ::)  ;)

Bit quick wasnt it??

GOing back to Eduard and Matilda -
The  'hints' on Ancestry say she was Matilda Susanna Brummit. I still cant find a marriage.
But her probate index enrtry does give her middle name as Susannah.
Also, I can see the Matilda Brummitt on 1841 in Lincolnshire (later census gives 'our' Matilda as bn Lincs) aged 10 mths with parents Thomas and Susanna - also a sister Lavinia - and I see on Matildas probate index that one executor was Christine Lavinia Oram, presumably her daughter Christine.
So lots is tying up, but not actual proof
I cant see Matilda Brummitt in 1851(should be age 10) nor her marriage to Eduard.
