Hi Trish1120,
I'm new to Rootschat. I've just discovered this thread, so thought I would introduce myself. Edward George is my grandfather as well. I am reasonably new to researching and am just starting to put together a family group. I have one more post before I can send a personal message. Will be in touch shortly

Hi,

Just in case you are still looking for the marriage, I found this one,

George MUSSELWHITE
Charlotte KING
30 Jul 1836
Downton, Wiltshire, England

I also found a record of a George MUSSELWHITE being sentenced to transportation,

Wiltshire
County Sessions:  29 Jun 1841
George MUSSELWHITE
Age:  25
Sheep Stealing
Sentence:  Transportation  10 years

If this is 'your' George then it could explain why Charlotte was married in 1851 but with no sign of George.

Regards,
Daisy

British Convict Transportation Registers
George Musselwhite, one of 389 convicts transported on the Moffatt, 10 August, 1842
Destination -= Van Diemen's Land

The Cornwall Chronicle (Launceston, Tasmania) Wed 7 Feb 1849
Tickets of Leave Granted - George Musselwhite, Moffatt 3.

(Does the "3" refers to the no. of years still to be served before the ticket of leave can be "used" ie. it's conditional)?

A George Musselwhite was committed for 2 months to the House of Correction, Devizes, for ill treating a horse, property of Thomas Maton, Downton (Sal &Winch Journal, 5 Jan 1835)

Hello, I have just discovered this site and I have a request that may sound a bit off the wall! I used to live in 167 Malmesbury Park Road (see thread referring to 1901 census Edward George Musselwhite). When renovating the house I found an old photo behind a skirting board with a date of 1900 it. From my detective work I have come to believe that it could be Edward George Musselwhite. The photo is in pretty bad condition but I was wondering if anyone has an actual photo of him so that I can check whether or not it's him? The room where I found it used to be my daughter's bedroom when she was tiny and she used to dream that this man would sit on the end of her bed and talk to her. She is now 18 and we live far away but she still occasionally thinks about this man who would talk to her. She was never afraid and seemed quite happy to talk to him! Any help gratefully received!
