hi new to this site so please be patient with me 
    I'm the great grand daughter of Amy wellings daughter of Alfred wellings son of William wellings
Ive be searching answers for 20years + I was told by my nan Ethel (Amy's Daughter ) that in her family was a man called Albert wellings whom I was lead to believe he was a hangs man / executioner
 I know quite a bit about my ancestors but seem to come to a Holt where Albert comes in to it
I also was told that if he was a hangs man /executioner that some files /info would be limited so any information would be gratefully received

Do you mean Prescot in Lancashire?  There is an Amy Wellings living in Rainhill in 1891 with parents Alfred & Anna

Hi

Even if Albert was a hangman - it would not be found as his occupation on any census entry.  You would have to rely on him being famous enough to be "Googled"

The father of Albert Pierrepoint was a hangman but his census occupation was furniture upholsterer

I couldn't find anything in the studies library but they said maybe he would be in the main office recorded ??

Without knowing where or when Albert was born - it's impossible to determine the right person.

The 1901 census has only 2 Albert Wellings born in Shropshire but they were infants at that time

That type of occupation is unlikely to be shown on a census entry

The 1901 website below shows occupations but as you will see - there were only 15 entries for that name and only 2 of them were over 21yrs old

ADDED...Carole - we posted the same time - do you think Annie Elizabeth is actually Amy - if not - that`s the wrong family I presume - those 5 baptisms with dates are on
