Diton or Dighton family and Garner Family

Hi i have just joined this site today and came across it when i was looking on my maiden name side of the family which is Garner. I have recently found on the 1911 census that my great grandad lived in Sidney Street Victoria Dock Road Tidal Basin London if anyone has any information regarding that period please could you let me know. Also the Dighton or Diton side of the family come from the Romany Gypsy and my great grandad had the name of Sanders or Saunders for his first name and the spellings differ because in those days they didn't know how to write and when the authorities came to write his name my great grandad didn't know how to spell it for them hence the different spelling.
I found that when researching siblings were often named after family members as we three generations of Charles Garner to date and is looking forward to going back further to see if there is any more. email me at (*)

Hi, did you find out anymore to your post? I believe Saunders Dighton to be my 2nd Great Grandfather.

 Saunders Dighton is my great grandfather  who married Rose Hilton, and his father who is also called Saunders is my great great grandfather born in 1832 in White Rudon Essex but to this day i still have no name for Saunders (jnr) mother. We do have Blackwood in the Garner family as my dads cousin is Joyce and she married into the Blackwood name.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I am led to believe my great grandmother is Lily dighton who married into the Blackwood name. Her father was Saunders Jnr. Are you aware of a Lily Dighton?

On trying to work it out, this would make Lily the sibling of your grandparent Dighton I think?
