Llangurig Look up request - Jones
« on: Monday 12 August 13 12:59 BST (UK) »
Hello

Needing help to find Hugh Jones's parents, he was baptised 12 April 1856 Llangurig (possibly Mynachlog Farm) and was buried 22 April 1856 Llangurig Churchyard

also a possible sibling Margaret baptised 16 Sept 1849

I think parents may be Edward & Elizabeth Jones nee Lewis

The baptism lists this father Edward as  a shepherd - I wonder if this is the family in 1861 living at  Mynachlog, Penbryn, Llanufyni

JONES, Edward    47   Shepherd b Montgomery, Cardiganshire
JONES, Elizabeth 48 b Montgomery Llangurig
JONES, Edward 25
JONES, Evan 24
JONES, Richard    21
JONES, Jane    17
JONES, Margaret 11
JONES, Thomas    8
JONES, Mary    6
JONES, Mary    Niece 2 b Montgomery, Cardiganshire

All children born Montgomery Llangurig

Hello Kay

I have Edward & Elizabeth in 1861c at Blaenuherin, Cardiganshire with children:
David 18; Thomas 16; Henry 14; Evan 11; Richard 7; Robert 6 Frances 10
and then again in 1871c at Mynachlog, Llagurig.

Looks as if Margaret fits perfectly with your 1861c family so Hugh probably belongs to them?
Two Edward & Elizabeth Jones's with children having very similar names living at the same Farm ten years apart?

What do you think?
thanks Anita

I agree with you, but how strange the two families appear to be living in the same farm ten years apart

Thank you Kay

A fresh set of eyes can work wonders, many thanks for your time.  I think I can safely remove Margaret & Hugh from my research becasue of your help.
