Bricket House Red Cross Hospital, St Albans WW1
« on: Monday 12 August 13 16:23 BST (UK) »
Do any photographs of the Bricket House Hospital still exist? We are hoping to publish a book to honour the men from our village who died in WW1 and one of them died in the hospital.  It would be good to have a photograph/text to go with his entry in our book. Any help gratefully received.

Hi Sally,

Sorry no, I thought it might be one of the villages on the outskirts of St Albans

Hi

Welcome to Rootschat.

May I ask the source of your information and the dates that you are asking about?

Reading recent posts about Bricket house, St Albans and I have come across the attached photographs of my Grand Father in Law, Charles Berry.
Charles served with the South Lanc's Reg, was wounded in 1917 and returned to the UK.
The family have confirmed he was at St Albans, but not to exactly where.
I think the two photographs are taken at Bricket House, one at the rear, the stable area, the other at the front of the house. The main hospital bears no resemblance to the house in the photograph ( the windows are not the same)
Sadly I have NO concrete evidence it is Bricket house, just a hunch.
Like other contributors, I can find no photographs either.
I will keep searching, hope this will help others to continue looking for the elusive photograph...
Kind regards
Trevor
