Hugh Hegarty Donegal
« on: Wednesday 14 August 13 15:57 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find out what happened to a relative called Hugh Hegarty. He was born in Donegal in 1891 to William Hegarty, a car driver, and Mary Anne McBrearty. According to a nephew of Hugh, he was awarded a medal for rescuing 42 horses. Some time later he left for England and never came back.

I'm not quite sure when he went to England and he didn't keep in contact with his family.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Rohan.

The only death in England for that name/birthyear was in 1964 in Middleton Lancashire aged 74 but no way of knowing if it is one you are looking for

both the surname hegarty and mc brearty would be associated with the glenties, ardara, and killybegs area of Donegal. They are all within a few miles of each other
