birth in Limerick
« on: Thursday 15 August 13 21:45 BST (UK) »
I really need help, I am looking for my 2 times great grandfather`s birth record. The only info I Have is that he was born in Limerick. He was 18 when he come to America in 1851 and settled in Connecticut so that means he was born in 1833. I appreciate any help or direction you can give me.
Peggy So sorry first Time I am using NEW Roots Chat. His name is David Clarey or Clary.

Yes, his name would certainly help.

There won't be a birth certificate (registration started 1864) and a church baptismal record might not exist (Limerick can refer to the county or the city).

When and where did he die? if he died in Connecticut then the informant of his death would have been asked for place of birth (sometimes just 'Ireland' was given) , possibly parents' names, etc.

Did he marry in Connecticut? Marriage certificate would have asked for similar details to death certificate.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

I found a Mary Clary-Cleary (widow-1900)  living with a daughter Johanna (Jones) and her husband Alfred Jones(Jomes). Is this the right one?

Johanna died:

Hi Jila, thanks for all your work re David Clarey, I have all the same records you found regarding David and his family, but he is out of the street directory for 1888 and Mary his wife is listed as a widow, no death record for him in New Britain, family lore has it that he died trying to stop a runaway horse and carriage, however no one knows where!!!

Thanks again, Peggy
