Hi Oletta,

Don’t know if these are relevant to your search given that Whillans is clearly a family name, probably going sideways into Agnes’ siblings and cousins.

Agnes Whillan Anderson married Thomas Scott 1925 Midlothian

Agnes Whillian Gillies died Roxburgh 1953 recorded DOB 1886

Regards, brigau

Given the dates, the only place you'd be able to search for a marriage and death are at ScotlandsPeople, the Scottish records' office pay to view web site.
AYRSHIRE - Strachan, McCrae, Haddow, Haggerty, Neilson, Alexander
ABERDEENSHIRE (Cruden and Longside) - Fraser, Hay, Logan, Hutcheon or Hutchison, Sangster
YORKSHIRE (Worsbrough) - Green, Oxley, Firth, Cox, Rock
YORKSHIRE (Royston and Carlton) - Senior, Simpson, Roydhouse, Hattersley

Hello Br1gau and JMStrachan

Thank you very much to you both for your replies and help that you have given me.

The marriage information you gave me BR1gau was the correct one it reads:-

Married on the 7 March 1925 at 34 Chambers Street, Edinburgh.  Thomas Scott aged 26, Occupation as as gents outfitter, Bachelor and Agnes Whillans Anderson aged 39, occupation as a tailoress, spinster both living in Hawick.

So she left the name "Susan" out of her marriage, hopefully her death will be easier to find!!!

Thank you both very much
Best wishes
Oletta

Good news - another little step forward.  Do you think she may have married twice (that's if the Roxburghe Gillies death is hers.

Hello Br1gau

I had a look at the death for Agnes Whillans Gillies it seems as thought it is the wrong one!!.  Agnes Whillans Gillies died on the 7 March 1953 in Ancrum, Roxburgh, aged 67 and was Single.

I also found a death for a Agnes W Gillies in Falkirk, Stirling in 1987 but the W was for Waugh.

Then the only death I could find for a Agnes Scott within her birth year was Agnes Gibson Scott who died in 1975 in Shotts, North Lanarkshire.

So Agnes's death is going to be another difficult one to find!!

Regards
Oletta

Hello Br1gau

I think I have found Thomas and Agnes.  Mrs Agnes W Scott aged 29, housewife and Thomas Scott, occupation as a Gent's outfitter both living at 21 High Street, Hawick.

They departed for Melbourne, Australia on the 12 March 1925, (five days after the married)departing from the port of London.  The name of the ship they sailed on was the "Berrima", which belonged to the shipping line, called Peninsular and orintal steam navigation company.

But they did not travel alone it looks like alot of the Scott family went too!!!!

Then I found Mrs Agnes W Scott travelling to Melbourne, Australia on the 20 November 1931,  Occupation as a housewife.  Not accompanied by husband, aged 36. Permanent residence Australia.  She used the address to travel from in Hawick as 21 Lothian Street, Hawick.  Which is where her parents lived.  The ship she sailed was "SS Baradine and again travelled from the port of London, England

So maybe I should be looking at Melbourne, Australia??

Oletta

You've been busy!  Was beginning to wonder if they'd emigrated.  Vic BDM seems to be undergoing maintenance until Saturday, but here's the link.

You might also be lucky & find something in the newspaper indexes for AU:

Hello Br1gau

Thank you again for your information, I have found nothing within the links.  So am wondering should I place all the information on the Australian Board???
