Paddington Railway Station Accident
« on: Monday 19 August 13 11:36 BST (UK) »
Could someone help with this. I have a Edward George who was working for the Railways at Paddington Station. He was supposed to be Sub-Station Master. We have been told he was killed at the Station 24 November 1894, by being crushed between the buffers of a Train. He left a Wife and a large Family behind.  But so far I can find no information about this. I do not have access to the London Newspapers. His death is recorded in December of 1894 at Paddington.
Thanks Haselbury

You may need to get his death certificate as that will give you the cause of death and will tell you whether there was an inquest.

I can't see anything in The Times  :(

The British Library newspaper archive is available to search pay per view

http://www.rootschat.com/links/0t93/

it is also available on findmypast.

Some libraries have access to newspaper records online using your library card.

Thank You both for your efforts. I have been searching for this for a long time now. In the list of Railway accidents that are given for London area, there is none around that time either. So I am starting to doubt the family information given.
Regards Haselbury.

It could just not be newsworthy  :-\

As groom suggested I would get the death certificate and see whether there was an inquest.

It was most probably newsworthy locally but not nationally.

I would contact Westminster Archives and ask them if they could look in their newspaper collection for you

http://www.westminster.gov.uk/services/libraries/archives/visitor-information/contact/

They may make a charge
