Charles Blain Burial
« on: Tuesday 27 August 13 19:39 BST (UK) »
I'm trying to find out where my husbands GGrandfather is buried.  I have found his burial on Findmypast (clip attached).  All it says is Witton, would this be St. Marys, Great Budworth, or St Helens, Witton.  Any help would be appreciated.

St. Helens, Witton is a chapel of St. Mary's Great Budworth.  That's why I'm confused.  We are visiting England next month and would like to visit his grave.  We searched the graveyard at St. Mary's last year and couldn't find him, so I'm wondering if we were at the wrong place.

Sorry for butting in but this is my patch  :)

- The burial will be in the grave yard of St Helen's, Church, Witton. The chapelry of Witton - St Helen's Church - kept separate registers to that of St Mary & All Saints, Great Budworth.

Northwich Cemetery is adjacent to St Helen's church yard and was newly opened at the time of the burial of Charles Blain, but burials in the cemetery were marked in the burial registers for St Helen's, Witton with a "c". Later they had their own registers.

This suggests the grave for Charles Blain may have been purchased or used prior to the cemetery opening c.1890

odessa.

Thank you thats exactly what I needed to know.  I saw some burials on the page marked with a "c" I wondered what they were.
