Out of Ideas
« on: Wednesday 28 August 13 20:10 BST (UK) »
I've lost track of my G Grandmother Elizabeth Bown.  In 1841 shes living with her family in West Cranmore Somerset, and the next time I find her is in 1862 on her marriage in London.
I've checked her address as shown then on the '61 census but shes not living there.
Any ideas please as I'm getting frustrated  ::)

When was she born, and where?
Is there an occupation on her mariage certificate?

Jen - she was born 1833 in W Cranmore Somerset.
It states she was a musical instrument maker (the same as her husband David Cockburn Begbie who went on to be a Master Piano Forte Maker

Thanks

I see from the marriage certificate the name is given as Bown and her father as Joseph Bown, farmer

1861 Census. This has to be a very strong contender as Dean is very close to Cranmore. I would investigate this one some more if I was you

Thanks very much.  I'll take a look at those.   Although there are loads of Bowns in Somerset, I've seem it variously transcribed as Bowen, Boon, Bone etcand had tried those but never thought of Brown  :D

Thanks again
