Bowler
« on: Thursday 29 August 13 20:04 BST (UK) »
I am searching for ancestors of John Bowler and Hannah Fryar. They married 1739-03-05 Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire.

I am also searching for John Bowler (Different person I assume?) and Sarah Durser. They married 1751-11-30 Farnham Royal, Buckinghamshire. Apparently he was born 1730 Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire.

These marriages are on separate branches of my ancestry so would be interesting if they are related, I guess it is possible as they are both in/near Princes Risborough.

In real terms, Farnham Royal is only about 20 miles from Princes Risborough, as the crow flies. But in practical terms, I wouldn't chase a link unless an obvious one arises down the line. ;D

As far as I've been able to find, in BucksFHS Pr's for Princes Risborough.  John Bowler(who marries Hannah Fryer), appears to be  baptised, 8 Sep 1716.  son of John & Esther BOWLER.

No marriage for John & Esther @ St Mary's, Princes Risborough.

No burial for Esther or Hester Bowler,  in St Mary's, Princes Risborough, and no certain burials either, for John Bowler.  As a lot of ages are not given, at time of burial.   I'm not saying he wasn't buried there, just it is not possible to say which John Bowler burial is which. ???

Do you want all the children born to John Bowler & Hannah(nee.Fryer), or to John & Esther Bowler.

I also have a Bowler mystery - my ancestor Charles Bowler, who died in the early 1850s:

The 1851 census says he was born/baptised in Princes Risborough, but the only records for a baptism I can find are for one in Farnham Royal on 12 September 1790. As Bucksboy said, they're not far from each other, but that doesn't mean anything without evidence of Charles moving around. Given that there are Bowlers in Princes Risborough before Charles's putative birthdate, I'm more inclined to believe he was baptised there and that the Farnham Royal Charles is a different individual. (Something which gives me no pleasure to say, since that Charles has quite an interesting pedigree).

Wherever my Charles came from, I'm pretty sure I know when and where he got married, thanks to Pallot's - Fingest on 2 January 1808. (To an Ann Newell).

Actually, Bucksboy - do you still have access to the Princes Risborough parish registers? If so, would you be able to search for a Charles Bowler's baptism between 1780 and 1795 for me?

In the 1851 census, he is married to Priscilla and living in High Wycombe.

Is this their marriage (in familysearch) in Wycombe, November 1832 to Priscilla Cato?
