Hello again,My goodness how the years go by.
Have had another look at this, but its a difficult one.
Have you looked in detail at the SHAMA family in the Alexandria area 1940s.
There are actually three other Shama Births entered in Consular Births 1916-1920, for Alexandria.
Edith Shama, Marcel M Shama, and Robert Shama.

Consular Marriage, Edith Shama 1945 Cairo to Hibbert. May be a lead for you.
Not much help, but good luck, Brionne.

Hello Brionne,

Thanks for your suggestions.

I've investigated those possibilities and now feel I've exhausted any searchable avenues available for general research.

I tried to find details of Ezra Shama's death as the marriage certificate stated he was deceased by 1944, but unfortunately Egyptian records are extremely limited.  There is also the fact he could have died just prior to Ginette's birth or soon after and it might have been in another country.  I've been led to believe the occupation of 'cotton classifier' could relate to being a merchant visiting sites where cotton goods were manufactured so that would extend my search virtually world wide, but still no success!!!

The political situations in Egypt extending from the 1950s are still ongoing to a certain extend so Ginette and her son could have travelled anywhere perhaps to escape the turmoil in Egypt.  I also think that maybe they changed their names to avoid connections with Great Britain or Israel (Ezra being a Jewish name).

All assumptions but I still hope sometime there will be a glimmer of light somewhere!

Thanks for listening, take care and stay safe.

Kind regards
Susie
