I'd like a look up please for the family in 1851. Flora arrived in Australia in 1843. Catherine arrived in 1856. John arrived sometime between 1841 census and 1856 so he may be in 1851 census.

Fred try www.Freecen you might find John ....or the images are free just now on Ancestry there is a record on Ancestry for Catherine going to Australia

Hello rosie17,

I have tried FreeCEN and they have 4.7% coverage of Argyllshire. I searched 1823 +/- 5 in all counties with phonetic search on for John and didn't find him.

I have Flora and Catherine already in shipping records that's how I know John was in Australia as of mother Catherine's arrival on 4 Sep 1856.
