Victoria Death - William PAUL
« on: Saturday 07 September 13 05:32 BST (UK) »
Several years back I was advised (this site) that there is a William PAUL listed as having died "fall of earth" in a mining accident in 00/00/1869.  At the time, it was like looking for a needle in a haystack, but now 'think' that this may be my William.  The death occurred in Maryborough, Alma.  I have located a William PAUL, aged 30, aboard the "Glen Roy" arriving into Victoria 30 June 1854 ex Glasgow and this is a good fit with mine as he was born near Glasgow in 1824.  William's parents were John Paul and Ann Filshie.  Does anyone have any more information on this death so I can confirm whether indeed this is my William.  I would have preferred to have located him with wife and LOTS of family, but makes sense that he died around this time period as his two brothers - George PAUL and Walter PAUL, all headed to the Victorian goldfields, but they later moved on to NZ (no sign of William).  thanks in advance.  I'm in Otago NZ if anyone wants any lookups/photos in return.

Thanks.  I now have 5 death certs that don't connect to my William and I guess I was trying to see if any more info was available via the Death CDs prior to spending more money.  If no parents names are given and birth place is Cornwall, I will have to exclude this chap.  Thanks anyway for your help. :)

The 1869 death was reported in the newspaper:

Perhaps you should search the newspapers for mentions of him and/or his brothers:
