Hearth Tax Records for Shropshire?
« on: Wednesday 11 September 13 13:18 BST (UK) »
Does anyone have a copy or can guide me to it online?

I can't find the full text of it only a 'snippet' in Google that tells me my village, Clee St. Margaret (Clee St Margaretts) has 2 entries in the index.

I am trying to research the history of my old stone cottage said to date back to 1750'ish.

My oldest occupant is the Jones family, Edward and Elizabeth whose son Francis is baptised in 1761. The Clee St Margaret Parish register lists their house as Ye Pound! My house now, The Pound.

Elizabeth may have been E. Edwards from Eaton under Heywood, possibly married in 1756.

I am a relative beginner at this so forgive my ignorance if the answer is obvious!

Thanks,
Lyn

Thanks for the reply.

I now have the printed copy for 1672 by W Watkins-Pitchford if anyone else is interested.

Hi Lyn
I am interested in Bridgnorth. Does this appear on your list?

Thanks Lyn. I'm not sure what that includes, but my interest lies in the Gregory family.
