Anyone tracing the name Bulmer in Great Ayton and Stockton on tees area's?
My 3xgreatgrandfather was William Bulmer a builder and stonemason in Stockton on Tees, he was born in Great Ayton in 1783 and married Elizabeth Bowser @ Durham in 1823/4.  The had several children including William, Hannah, Jeffrey, Mary, Elizabeth, Esther Maria,  John & George (all born in Stockton).
William's father was Jeffrey Bulmer (stonemason) who died @ G A in 1828 and his nephew (another William) became mayor of Middlesbrough in 1878.

I don't know if there is a connection here, but I have a Henry Bulmer born 1842 approx, in Stockton on Tees.  He married a Margaret Jane Hesp from Durham and had two sons, Henry and Frederick, born in Stockton.

Also Balk, Nutter, Wiffen - Durham

Hi prestongirl

I've just discovered a connection to William Bulmer, who was Mayor or Middlesbrough in 1878.

I have some correspondence from 1915 outlining a little family history, suggesting that William was the son of Anne Milburn and ? Bulmer, of Great Ayton.

I can't find a marriage of a Milburn and a Bulmer on freebmd - do you know anything about William's father?

cheers

Paul

I have just seen this post. I have the same documentation as Paul but have discovered (after much searching) that George Bulmer married Eleanor (not Anne) Milburn in Thirsk, 1820. The Milburns are distantly related to me. Eleanor was the sister of my 3xgreat-grandmother, Sarah Milburn. Cheers, fineli
