Links: Useful Swedish Links
« on: Saturday 14 September 13 10:56 BST (UK) »
I have searched through these forums and haven't found any help on searching in Sweden. So I have compiled a little list of useful links. I am sure there are many more.

Translating words from the Church Books:

http://www.slaktdata.org/index.php/lexikon

Swedish Parishes. Just click on the county:
https://familysearch.org/learn/wiki/en/Counties_of_Sweden

If you have a soldier in the family (Soldiers in Sweden have a family name and a soldier name which usually continues as the family name). The database is at the bottom of the page:
http://www.ep.liu.se/databases/soldatregister/default.en.aspx

Some very useful sites:
http://www.genealogi.se/roots/
http://www.genline.com/node/slaktforska.php

.....and myself. I enjoy deciphering and translating documents. I can always try anyway!

Thank you, Ian. That last one with the Latinized words will be very handy. For some reason, I struggle with some of the Latin in the Swedish records, yet not in the English ones.
I am Australian, from all the lands I come (my ancestors, at least!)

Pine/Pyne, Dowdeswell, Kempster, Sando/Sandoe/Sandow, Nancarrow, Hounslow, Youatt, Richardson, Jarmyn, Oxlade, Coad, Kelsey, Crampton, Lindner, Pittaway, and too many others to name.
Devon, Dorset, Gloucs, Cornwall, Warwickshire, Bucks, Oxfordshire, Wilts, Germany, Sweden, and of course London, to name a few.
