Sorry did post that I found them under D J McCreinen.

Found them by posting first name only, DOB and province they lived in.

Wonder where the post went?

Library and Archives indicated to me that WW1 soldiers who returned from the war were hired as

census takers as many did not have a job.

Now doing the happy dance....stil lhave the  odd one to find.

My first three attempts trying to find family members left me very frustrated. Surname Loft was transcribed as Sopt. Currie was transcribed as Burrie. An Agnes became James??? Fortunately I was able to find them because I knew where they lived in 1921. By using a first name and the address I was able to find those whose names were mangled. Fortunately other family members have been easier to find. Good luck everyone when you start your searches.

I have, since yesterday, been searching for hundreds (this is no exaggeration) of relatives in the 1921 census and have found less than half. In almost all cases I have their full names, dates of birth, their deaths (or at least a year from gravestone so that I know they were alive in 1921) and know the exact location where they lived (in most cases the street or even exact house). Some that I did find did not show up until I was searching for someone else and checked the census page.

One tip for missing Nova Scotians- check the delayed birth registrations (under births) for a missing person. In some cases the 1921 census was used for proof of their application and a scan of the letter with the census findings will be shown in their file.

Too bad Automated Genealogy or LAC didn't do the indexing. They would have taken longer, but they would have done a much better job.

There seem to be small groups doing their own transcriptions for the benefit of others so it would be worth checking to see if an area of interest is covered elsewhere.

I certainly hope people are entering corrections at Ancestry as they find entries for their families that have been mistranscribed.

I am also finding some interesting transcription errors.  I believe that volunteers are doing the work, and I appreciate their efforts.  However, I wish some of them would have used a map... I have found many street names in Toronto have been mistranscribed.  Oops.
