Hi

Trying to find out some information on my grandfather Samuel Montgomery he was born in Portglenone, County Antrim but moved to Cookstown where he married my grandmother Margaret Morgan around the 1930s/1940s (i think).

His parents or grandparents were possibly Samuel and Sally/Sarah Scullion....

There was a Samuel Scullion (father William James) who married a Sarah A Houston (father Clarke) in Broughshane 1st Presbyterian Church in November 1920.

This may be him in 1911:

And her:

Does this ring any bells or is it completely off track?

Samuel (or Samuel's Father b. 1873) Was my Grandmother's Older Brother Born 1873 at Garvaghy, Portglenone Parish, Co Antrim Ireland.  I have been over there a few times doing research at PRONI and St. Mary's RC Church in Portglenone. (Did He own a Fruit Distribution Co.)
Samuel's Father was James Montgomery (Recorded Gomery sometimes) b. 1846 we believe born at Lisnafillan / Lisnafillon Near Galgorm / Ahoghill.
James Montgomery's b. 1846 Father was William b. 1809 who we believe born at Lisnafillan / Lisnafillon Near Galgorm / Ahoghill.  He Lived in Garvaghy From about 184x on...
William Montgomery's b. 1809 Father may have been John or William b. 1786 And he may have been born at Lisnafillan / Lisnafillon Near Galgorm / Ahoghill.  But he may have lived in Portglenone later in Life And may have married a Elizabeth McCoy... (Still Researching this)

Joe Reiley
p.s. Grandmother was Mary Anne Montgomery Reiley b. 1877 in Garvaghy.

I can't see a record for a Samuel Montgomery marrying Morgan on the GRONI site

Or a Margaret Morgan marrying Montgomery

However is the wedding was after 23rd Oct 1943 it won't be showing yet, and I think the records are only accessible from the public records office
McClean, Kelly, Murray, Higgins, McAnulty (McNulty, Conalty, Kinolty), Morgan, Rafferty, McPolin (All Co Down, Ireland) Bowman, Hooper(Yorkshire)

I see a public tree lists them as Marrying on 21 Sept 1944

They have Samuels parents as being James Alexander Montgomery and Ann Jane Campbell

Birth Record
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1915/01381/1567911.pdf

Parents Wedding certificare
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1904/10204/5713585.pdf

The tree does seem well researched, but if it was me i would want to see your grandparents marriage certificate to make sure the fathers names match!

The parents of Margaret Morgan (b 1922) are listed as James Morgan and Margaret Ann Hunter

Their wedding certificate
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1908/10042/5652569.pdf

And them on the 1911 census
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Londonderry/Moneyhaw/Killybearn/614916/

These are the main sources for you to continue the research - Census, Irish Genealogy, GRONI, and PRONI (For wills).
