william owen Pilkinton

My g.g.grandmother's younger brother, Will. Owen Pilkinton was born Milton, next Gravesend in late 1843 or Jan. 1844. He appear in 1851 and 1861 census at home with parents. Can't find him in 1871.  In 1881 he seems to be in Cheltenham, Glos. with a wife, Emma- a 'mineral water worker', although he is now PilkinGton, and says he was born in Pimlico. However, he again appears in St. Pancras with Emma -still mineral water worker- now born Gravesend. No sign in 1901, but in 1911 he is a widower living in Hendon- retired mineral water worker.  I have been unable to find any marriage for him, or death of Emma.  What would this 'mineral water worker' be?  He is the only member of my g.g. grndmother's family I have been unable to pin down. Any suggestions? All you wonderful people out there have been a great help in the past, hope you can come to the fore again!
Cheers, June (in Australia)i

Hi,
I can t find a marriage as yet but this is possibly him in 1871 in Camberwell.
RG10/736  134/23

Wm Pilkington  lodger  unm 24  Mineral Water Worker ?  Kent, Gravesend

In another census Emma is down as being born Cheltenham and there is also a Susan(married) born Cheltenham, I wonder if that could be a relative.
Did William and Emma have any children?

Thanks Cathy, That definitely sounds like him. Same occupation for 81, 91 & 1911. I, too, saw Susan, born Cheltenham and wondered.  No, William & Emma don't appear to have had any children, seems to be the story of the Pilkinton family, there doesn't appear to be many descendants.  I will follow up on Susan and James Smith.
Thanks, June..

Well done on finding Umpil Kington, Cathy  ;D  ;D  ;D

The last word in occupation is Asst (old fashioned double s) , ie: assistant.
