She is certainly listed as 'Emigrant' in the snip I posted - on the Archimides I think!   ;)

But she could be emigrant with her parents couldn't she?

Of course Wiggy  ;D  and she should be found in the 1828 NSW census  ;)

I think your snip is from the Permission to Marry for the couple  :)

I tried to be clever and looked for a Steel(e) convict attached to the Archem. but no luck.  So her parentage will have to remain a mystery, as her 1902 death index doesn't list the parents names either,   I am more than happy with results - Saturday midday I first discovered the names of Eleanor and Edward - by Sunday night I had a convict with plenty of info on State Archives, and some other details.  Thanks to everyone.  :)

Sadly I cannot find anyone arriving on the Archimedes at any time  listed on my CD (I can search by ship) for the NSW 1828 Census  ::)  perhaps the ship came after 1828 or perhaps only to VDL?

It is not making sense at all, sorry.

Thank you all again for the interest.  MAGM did you pop the reference to a William Steel (from the 1903 record) in as a suggestion for me to chase down?  All I know of Eleanor's origins (FROM another researcer) is she was born in 1820, Dublin.  Migrated in 1826 (aged 6) - aboard Archimedes.  No proof of this, except her obituary says she was 6 when she arrived in Aust. I couldn't find a passenger list from State archives for Archimedes.

Sorry JM - I think that's what it says on the permission to marry form, under 'Parmelia' - the ship Edward arrived on.   I can't find anything else about it either so maybe I am not reading it correctly!

Anyhow - it doesn't matter Jalrose/Linda has what she wants so . . . .     ;) ;)

Cheers,

Wiggy, you raised the ? and I had to look!  In the marr permission, the A in Anderson is formed differently to the A in the ships name?  Then again the S in Smith and the S in Steel are different.   She was definitely Irish and not a convict, so I must be content with that. :)
