« on: Tuesday 01 October 13 12:19 BST (UK) »
Hi,
Can some one try a look up for me Please? his name was "Francis Joshua" from the Island of St Helena, which is out in the South Atlantic Ocean, he was born around 1834/35, and around the late 1850's or very early 1860's? Has we find him had enlisted on the USS.Wabash at Boston, MA.
On the 21st June 1861,and into the American Civil War! I'm trying to find where he arrived into the USA? Has I'm at a Brick Wall with this Please!! Any Information would be helpful?  :) Francis was about 26 years of age! mixed race! I have him on an Enlistment Sheet for the Union (Federal)Navies!  I'm trying to find a way to put his enlistment Sheet on this message??
    Thank You!

Hi,

Noticed Francis is listed as an Ordinary Seaman on Civil War Soldiers records, quite possibly would not be listed on a passenger list.

Have you tried sites like http://www.castlegarden.org/   http://www.olivetreegenealogy.com/ships/tousa1854-1860.shtml

Hi there,

His enlistment record can be seen here:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XG35-72Z

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MQHH-L25
 - is this Joseph Joshua possibly a relative?

Agree with Sandra - he probably came over as a crewman and is unlikely to appear on passenger lists. What else do you know about him - did he marry/remain in the US?

Hi Sandra & Jorose!
I have found some time after the American Civil War (1861-1865) we find him in
South Africa, he had married twice in Natal,S.A. Francis (Samuel) Joshua died on the 2nd Dec 1888,
at Kimberley S.A.
His first wife was: Elsie Peters  M: 1871     (no children)
His 2nd wife was: Mary Ann Pramblepla M: 1872    two children)
Are there any births/baptisms on line for Natal? for the 1880's Please? ad are there
any death notices for Kimberley in South Africa Please!

                      Thank You! ???
