Francis/Frances Wombell / Womble

I hope this is the right place for this post.  I use Ancestry for research.

 I have a Francis Womble/Wombell who was born in 1827 in Maplebeck.
He is referred to as Frank in 1851, a servant in Caunton.  I have him until 1901 in Caunton.  but I have no trace of a Francis in 1841. 

The 1841 census has a Frances, daughter of Thomas Woombell but I can see no trace of her after this. 

I am beginning to wonder if actually the 1841 child is a son and was mistaken for Frances.

Is there any way of checking this out at all??

In 1901 he is transcribed as Frances.

His marriage cert will give you his fathers name

Possible baptism with parents as William and Ann -

However as CaroleW has already said it would be advisable to purchase his marriage cert to ascertain his father's name.

The Thomas on the 1841 is only 30 and probably the son of James & Ann.
