You may be able to find census information/details on FamilySearch.  If you haven't yet tried, you might try internet searches for Rev. Richards, typing his name and trying things such as Wilkes-Barre, Vancouver, etc.  There may be additional information about him on the internet.

I can add the other entries later today if you like, unless someone else adds them before I return?  (I have to leave for a bit now)

Hi Mike:

Thank you for the very kind offer.  So far, I've only found Irish and English ancestors (and with the amazing help of other RootsChatters, an ancestor living in France); no Welsh ancestors.   ;)

This may have already been mentioned, but including it, in case it hasn't been:
Wednesday, October 11, 1944, The Bismarck Tribune
There was a meeting of the North Dakota synod (Presbyterian Church).  Guests at the luncheon included Rev. Evan Richards (of Gilby), as well as three other people.

The North Dakota State University Archives has a searchable index of naturalization records at this link: http://library.ndsu.edu/db/naturalization/
Evan Richards filed a Declaration of Intent on 12 Feb 1945. There are instructions at the link on how to order a copy. It costs $5 US and they will email it to you.

Good job on the sources, Lisa. The only one I can add is the references to Evan officiating at weddings and funerals in Saskatchewan in the 1930s came from various announcements in the Winnipeg Free Press.

Hi Both,
This is going to sound odd , after saying that all these posts are for 1(ONE) Rev Evan Richards,
it could be that there are two !!! both Welsh both with same birthday and both spending time in Canada and the U.S. BUT only one spending time in Australia.
As you have seen in some items he is married, divorced, widowed and single.!! I haven't done a timeline but just on face value something isn't right.
Regards
Mike

It would be interesting to see a brief timeline.  There does seem to be something unusual, but perhaps it had something to do with his work?  Or, maybe most of the information was about one person, with one or two of the other records about a totally different person?

As you have seen in some items he is married, divorced, widowed and single.!! I haven't done a timeline but just on face value something isn't right.

It could be that he just didn't want to refer to himself as being divorced so he said he was either a widower or single.

Here's a timeline that connects the information found:

The 1929 passenger list  for the Aorangi (from Australia to Canada) confirms this is the same Evan Richards who arrived in Canada in 1909. It also says he was born in Ystradytodwg, Wales.

The 1929 passenger list for the Berengaria (from Southampton to New York) has his last permanent residence as Sydney and his birth place as Ystradytodwg  which matches the other 1929 passenger list.

The 1929 Berengaria passenger list and the 1946 immigration information sheet when he was returning to Gilby give almost identical information (grey eyes, grey hair, born Ystradytodwg with the only difference being an inch in height).

I re-checked the 1930 border crossing document when he was going to Hamilton, Ontario from Pennsylvania and it indicates he had arrived in New York on the Berengaria in Jun 1929 so that connects him to the other passenger list documents.

The Evan Richards mentioned in the Winnipeg Free Press in the mid- to late 30s is in Bangor and Llewelyn  where a Rev Evan Richards was from 1909-1911.

Joining relative or friend:  c/o Thomas Cook, 5th Av., New York City; Touring; 2 months.

Since he says he was touring, I’m thinking this is Thomas Cook the travel agency and not a friend/relative.
