There is a possible marriage listed in Montreal, in the United Church Calvary, 1929.

The writing is decent, but I've added square brackets where I'm not sure if I'm reading it correctly:

Marriage
Evan Richards, widower, of legal age, Minister of [Miners Mills ?] , Penn, USA
son of [Morgan] Richards and his wife Mary Evans, and Gladys Winifred [Beanes], spinster, of
legal age, Bookkeeper of Bath, England, daughter of Henry Beanes and his wife [Sarah] Ann Workman
were married by me by authority of
License 2619 this fifth day of November
of the year nineteen hundread and twentynine in the presence of the
[subscribing ?] witnesses.

Contracting Parties  Evan Richards
                                 Gladys Winifred Beanes

Witnesses  M Roberts
                    Mrs Moses Roberts
                    Mrs Arthur Hughes

(signature of) T. W. Jones, Minister

If this seems to match your Evan Richards, I can send the image if you pm me an email.

Edited to add:  This Evan and Gladys appear to match a couple in the 1930 Penn. USA census, which asks for current age, and age at first marriage.  Gladys is 31, with an age of 31 at her first marriage, whereas Evan is 44, with an age at first marriage of 26 yrs.

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for all the help so far on this one. I am asking a further question regarding the Rev Evan Richards.
He crossed the border from Canada to the U.S. at Loring ,Montana on the 4th of August 1938.
Amongst those that accompanied him was  a wife by the name of Maggie, aged 39.
This is the only reference I have for this lady. I wonder what became of her ???
when did they marry ? when did she die ? Who was she ?
Can anyone help ?

Interesting character, the way he moves around.  Two more sightings:
1925 Australian Voter's List Church St. Silkstone Ipswich clergyman, no wife found.
6 May 1929 arrived London aboard OARONIA from NY age 43 clergyman destination 82 Severn Rd Cardiff Wales.  He had declared his intention to make this trip when he arrived in Vancouver aboard the AORANGI.

The 1940 Canadian Voters List has Evan Richards, minister, living in Kelso Saskatchewan, no wife.  Kelso is now a tiny hamlet with a population less than 50 people.  If this is the right Evan Richards he seems to have lost Maggie since crossing the border at Loring Montana 2 years earlier.

Thanks manawakian. Your right, It narrows down the time that has to be
searched for Maggie, Canadian records being what they are we will not see
Any until about 2022. I have looked for her in Canadian newspapers to no avail .
I dont seem to have much luck with American newspapers either regarding Maggie.
Evan Richards preached in Gilby North Dakota after leaving Canada In the early 1940's.
I got the Kelso info from the church authorities, but I did not realise he was on his own....,
Thanks again for your help it's much appreciated.

Hi every one,
It is five years later . the Maggie mystery is still unsolved Saskatchewan Health records want C$25 just to look for a marriage record and C$55 for a genealogy copy if they find it. They have yet to complete computer indexing if marriages and then it will be only available after 75 years..
You would have thought if a marriage had taken place it would have made the papers......
Now to the man Evan Richards.....he was a compulsive liar and philanderer. More and more comes to light that one of the other "missionaries" he travelled to Canada with originally in 1909 was also of suspect character. All those records that confused us 5 years ago are a testimony of how he tried to throw his contemporaries off his trail.
Once again thanks to everyone who helped 5 years ago and yes all your efforts were accurate. Wales ,England,Australia, Canada and the USA he moved around to avoid trouble.
SO....what happened to Maggie ? Anyone ??

1935 Canada Voters List has him in High Prairie, Alberta.  No wife listed, maybe he married in Alberta between 1935 and 1938.  Alberta marriage records for that period can be searched online by a tedious process.
