My grandfather, Peter Byrne, was killed in a work place accident on 7 Aug 1971 at Boland's Mills, Dublin.

My mother (having emigrated to Australia) was sent obituaries clipped from the newspapers and I am almost positive she also had news items from said papers also sent. Going through family files now, the obituaries are there but no articles.

Are there newspaper archives online which I could search?

If so, where would I be looking?

The place`s to look may be the National Library of Ireland,the Irish National Archive,or Dublin City Library,these may not be on line but may be happy to provide copies of articles for a small charge,I hope this may help.

You can take out a 24 hour subscription which isn't too expensive.

Most of the larger libraries give free access at their research stations
I'm in Dublin and go out to Tallaght as its easist for me rather than going into city

If you contact your local library service they will let you know where the closest one with these services is located
