Huntrod/Huntrods/Huntrode/Huntrodes
« on: Tuesday 29 October 13 12:35 GMT (UK) »
Morning,

I am trying to find out anything about my 8 x great grandfather William Huntrods who died in 1682 Fylingdales, near Whitby. He was father to Anna 1675-1679, William 1677-1679, Martha (my 7 x great grandmother) 1681-1747 and William 1682-????.

I was wondering if anyone has any information on William and if he is the son or grandson (or any other relation) of the famous Francis and Mary Huntrodds who's tomb is at St Mary's Church, Whitby. Looking through other peoples trees on Ancestry some people list them as having a son called William born around 1630, but I do not have anything to say the Williams are the same person.

Any info anyone can give I would be very grateful for.

Hi

Archive.org hold a copy of the early registers for Whitby, there were two Huntrodes couples that I can see baptising children ~ one Francis, and another couple John Huntrodes and Ellen Rickeson who married 11 Aug 1628.

www.archive.org

Just type in Yorkshire parish in search box, and the registers should come up on the page

Whoa, this is an old post, but I'm a fellow researcher of the Whitby area and I saw your post because I wanted to know a bit more about the old Francis Huntrods. If you haven't found anything yet or if you haven't seen this I recommend you have a look at this site on Google. Just put in
Lady Day 1673 Hearth Assessment for the North Riding of Yorkshire. Didn't see any Huntrods on the East Riding one in 1672 but then again I wasn't looking. Also Huntrods are a Fylingdales family so you might like to look up Alan Storm's thesis online on Fylingdales. Hope they are your rellies.

Cheers barkersrels at menai.

There are some mentions of Huntrods etc on Dave King's magnificent website.  Use wild cards * and several results will appear.  I used Hunt*ro*d* and 55 came up, some from the late 1600s.
