Parish Records Leominster Look up Tristham-Lester Marriage and Baptism
« on: Tuesday 29 October 13 15:11 GMT (UK) »
I wonder if anyone can help me. I am trying to find out some more information on my 2 times Great grandparents Thomas Trisham and Mary Lester.

I have found the family on the 1851 census living in Leominster South Street ward (Dishley Street)
Thomas is 53 and a boot closer born in Ludlow
Mary is 45 Born in Leominster Herefordshire.
Their children are Ann aged 15, Maria, aged 13, Mary aged 10  Susannah (my Great grandmother)aged 7, William aged 4 and Elizabeth aged 1 all born in Leominster.

The 1841 Census has them listed as Tristram living in New street Leominster.

Thomas is aged 40
Mary aged 30 I think for this census ages were rounded to the nearest 10?
Ann is 5
Maria 3
and Mary 1.

I know from my great grandmother Sussanah Tristhams birth certificate that her mother was Mary Lester.

Ive not been able to find a marriage for Thomas  and Mary or a birth for Mary Lester.

Can anyone assist?

Well blow me down, after years of trying i think i might have found the marraige.

I went onto the family search website and found a marriage between Thomas Trustham and Mary Ledster on 20 jul 1935 in Leominster.

Being that early I doubt if their is a record of who Mary's father was is there?

there are a number of records for ledster children parents William and elizabeth  at Etnam St Baptist chapel Leominster. but starting in 1819.

however the chapel was built in 1771 bur there are some "births" shown as early as 1760.
Is it Baptists who don't do infant baptisms, maybe the dates are confusing

Thank you maxi. Yeah those records for the babtist church are confusing. Their is a Mary Lester babtised it heir but the date looks to late. However I hadn't considered that it could be a late baptism. I haven't though been able to find a marriage for Mary's parents.

William and Elizabeth look to be having other children much later, possibly meaning they could not be your Mary's parents.

there is a likely birth for William in 1795?  at the priory church, which was Leominster's only c of e church then, maybe the Benedictine monks were to busy sampling the brew to keep records  ;D ;D ;D

surprisingly William appears not to have any siblings in Leominster.

William was born in 1792 in Leominster to Robert ledster and Mary, their marriage was in Leominster   25 dec 1784, Christmas day, not possible?  but that it what it says,  it just gets worse, but this must surely be a connection of sorts
