I just wondered if anyone might be able to help
« on: Thursday 07 November 13 18:16 GMT (UK) »
I have been working over the years at filing in the many gaps in my family tree, so far I've got a little way into my Mother's family however I know nothing of my possible Father's, in fact, I know next to nothing about him.
What I do know is his name is (was) Clifford Weaver (Wheaver?) but he preferred to be called Ozzy and he was supposedly born in Newcastle and lived on Chesterly Street. I don't know much at all about him so when I try to fill in that side of my family tree I've got virtually nothing to add apart from question marks.
I don't live in Newcastle anymore and I haven't lived there for many years (we moved back to Northamptonshire in 1998 or 1999 and I was still a small child, no older than a few years) so I'm finding it exceptionally hard to fill this massive blank.
If anyone can assist by providing any sort of information I would be exceptionally grateful, I've been searching whenever I can since I was twelve years old (so eight years now, almost nine) and each year that passes makes me feel further and further away from completing my family tree.
Thank you very much, Elle.

Hello Elle and welcome :)

Sorry to get into possibly delicate areas from the outset, but is your father definitely deceased? Rootschat's rules mean we can't post material about anyone who might still be living.

Subject to that - can you give us anything as to his dates (birth, marriage, death - even something approximate will help) which might help us pin down relevant records?

supposedly born in Newcastle and lived on Chesterly Street.

Is this an address in Newcastle (not my area!) or might he have lived in Chester-le-Street?

I wonder whether Elle's father is perhaps a generation younger than that marriage? I.e. perhaps a son of the marriage?

Hi Kitty-cat

I think that this need to be discussed via a PM, you will need to do 2 more posts, before a message can be sent to you

Hi Ellie

Someone suggested a marriage in 1961
If you start with that and use http://freebmd.org.uk then you can find the bride's surname and then search for births after the marriage, surname Weaver and mother's maiden name as shown for the marriage.
I can see three children listed born Durham City but none have the first name that you are looking for. However, the FreeBMD records have not all been transcribed for that period so try searching on http://www.findmypast.co.uk/
There is a birth in 1963 which might be the one you want, if Durham turns out to be the right area.
Once you find that entry, just google for the first name plus initials and surname and see what comes up.
I don't know if that is the person you are looking for or not, but wish you all the best.
(Trying to keep this as helpful as possible without, I hope, infringing the rules)
