Please identify these uniforms ( not Gordon Highlander's)
« on: Monday 11 November 13 23:03 GMT (UK) »
I'm wondering if either soldier is a private in the Gordon Highlanders, 2nd Battalion. Apparantly not! If so there is a chance he may be a relative who died in France in 1915.

Hello fist

My Father was in 2nd Battalion Gordons in WW2 and his unifrm was not like either of those pictured. The tartan is wrong in the second picture and the cap badge isn't right in the first.
Hope I haven't disappointed

Regards

AJ

It's okay AJ, after I posted these photos I too noticed that the cap badge in the top photo was not a Gordon Highlander's one. I now realise the tartan is wrong in the other photo so will change the title of my post. :)
Thanks,

The figure in the first photograph is wearing the cap badge of the General Service Corps.

Good evening,

I'm no expert on tartans but it looks like the McKenzie tartan of the Seaforth Highlanders.

Yes, I'll also go with Seaforth Highlander, circa WW1.  The kilt looks as though it has been well-washed.  :)
