Thomas William, farmers son, of Kiffig Parish, married Esther Willy, spinster of Kiffig Parish, in Kiffig Church, Carmarthenshire on 17 April 1824. Both signed their names in the presence of Jonathon Morgan and William Williams. There are no parents names given in the banns.

Esther (Hester) was from Trevaughan, Whitland, which is in Kiffig Parish.

The following children were baptised in Kiffig Church:

David bap. 27 June 1824 - Parkcwm, Kiffig
Elizabeth bap 15 February 1826 - Parkcwm, Kiffig
Sarah bap 27 December 1829 - Amroth Parish.
No record of George c1838.

Hello Pam,

Thank you very much.

I think it was handy having George born Monkton.

Regards,

Fred

From my transcription of the Parish Registers of Monkton st Nicholas 1711 to 1930's
Baptism Register ;
27 May 1838 John to Thomas & Hester Williams of Monkton a labourer by Octavius Leach
24 Jan 1840 Elizabeth to Thomas & Hester Williams of Monkton a labouer by O. Leach
09 May 1841 George to Thomas & Hester Williams of Monkton a labourer by O. Leach
24 Dec 1843 Martha to Thomas & Ester Williams of Monkton a labourer by O. Leach

From my research and book on Headstones & Memorials of Monkton St Nicholas, there are no headstones that survive that appear to relate to this family.

Hello Orielbenfro,

Thank you very much for the details.

Age at death indicated George was born abt 1840 so it's a little odd he is listed as 3 and 13 in census.

George and family arrived in NSW in Dec 1878. He is listed in shipping record as 38 and a mason. Both parents listed as having died by that date.

I can't be 100% sure I have the right parents.  I have the name (common)  born abt 1840 in Pembroke and a mason.  And his marriage to Emma PRICE daughter of Stephen, Sep Qtr 1862.

Regards,

Fred

From my transcript of the parish registers of Pembroke St Mary 1711 to the 1930's
Baptism Register
02 Feb 1842 Emma to Stephen & Ann Price of Maiden Wells a Labourer by James Dalton baptised.
(Note this is the only child baptised at St Mary to this couple)
Maidenwells lies just to the south of Pembroke Town, easily seen on google maps.

I believe that Stephen Price had married Ann John in the Pembroke District in the 4th Qtr of 1841. I can confirm the mrge did not take place at St Mary, St Michael or Monkton St Nicholas.

Research shows that an Ann John had been baptised at St Twynnells on the 11th August 1822 to Daniel & Mary John.

Research would suggest that Thomas Williams of Nash had married Hester Gibby at Lamphey on the 22 Oct 1836.
(Note Nash, is now more widely shown as "Nash with Upton", and lies easterly of Pembroke and to the north east of Lamphey).
