Cullycapple School closed in June 2013 and the registers are in PRONI. However, when I get the kitchen table cleared later tonight I will start looking through the roll books (Sandy Spallin's family certainly attended the school). More on that family shortly.

Have gone back through online records and think I've found all your Spalling family- there are a few differences from the dates you posted earlier.

John Spalling (c1820?-1902) m. Isabella (c1806-1886)
death 1886 https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FTWF-M6Y
John Sapling death 1902 https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FTXF-325

Joseph Spalling (c1846-1905) m.(1879) Martha Morrison (c1854-1896).
death 1905 https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FTFG-C25

        birth June 1879 https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FGJC-D51
2.   Margaret Spalling (1881)
        birth Jan/Mar.1881 https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FBW9-2WB
3.   Joseph Spalling (1883-1900)
        birth: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FB46-Z2J

4.   Daniel Alexander Spalling (1885)
        birth Jan/Mar.1885 https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FBHJ-2Q3
5.   Samuel Spalling (Jan/Mar.1890)

6.   Sarah Spalling (Jan./Mar.1890)
         birth https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FBD3-J2H
7.   John Spalling (1887)
        birth https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FBZ6-LZC
8.   James Spalling (1892)
        birth July/Sept.1892 https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FB6V-QWY
?9.   Martha Jane Spalling (1892)
        birth July/Sept.1892 https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FB6V-QWB
10.   Martha Spalling (1896)
        birth July/Sept.1896 https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FBNQ-724

I think James had a twin Martha Jane (will have to check for a death to match).

I think the 'other' Spallin family in Aghadowey is connected (Bovagh and Mullaghinch are adjoining townlands). So, here's a family tree for them-

Alexander Spallin (c1861-Oct.1954) m.(1892) Sarah Wilson (c1866-cJan.1957).

1954/1957?- Ballygawley.

2.   Isabella “Bella” Spallin (1895-aft.1911)

So Can I ask you a silly question and  there is no panic on the answer but who is Sandy Spallin??? I am so full of questions now I don't know where to start LOL

Sorry, forgot to explain that 'Sandy' is a nickname for Alexander.

Earliest Cullycapple roll book I have here at the moment is 1917- will have to look for earlier ones.
See reply #12 for 4 Spallin sisters I found there so far.
Also found an Annie Spallin (Presbyterian, age 4 in JUly 1917) but not sure where she fits in yet. The roll books list # on register, name, religion and attendance but not townland, dates of starting & leaving and father's occupation that will be in the registers.

Will also check some early school photos to see if any of either family are in them.

Again thanks ever so much for everything and much as I want to know all I can, please don't give yourself any trouble.  Though photos would be good as I don't have any unless one of my grandad as he died before I was born.

Can I ask also (yep here I go again) is Aghadowey Parish and St. Guires one and the same or do I have to look somewhere different

Aghadowey is the name of both the civil parish and a townland in the centre of it. St. Guaire's is the Parish (Church of Ireland) church there.
http://www.churches-uk-ireland.org/images/derry/aghadowey.jpg

The Presbyterian Church is just down the road-

Alexander Spallen's family were Church of Ireland and there is a family plot there. Son Alexander buried in the Presbyterian churchyard in Faulkner plot (think that was his wife's connection).
