Harriet Truscott or Triscott or Trescott
« on: Sunday 01 December 13 13:09 GMT (UK) »
Looking for info on Paternal grandmother Harriet Truscott or Triscott or Trescott
Born Plympton St. Mary (unable to find her birth cert) abt 1850 Devonshire.

Harriet's father John Truscott miner and mother Mary Ann White (birthplace listed at Millbrook,
Cornwall)
Truscott family lived at 18 Underwood Road,
Plympton St. Mary 1861 census
Migrated to Smythesdale with older brother Joseph, mother and father abt 1865. No boat details.
They may not have travelled together.
Harriet Married Johannes Hauser in Smythesdale 1877.
Johannes was born Nieder- Weisel 13 Aug 1841.

If anyone could advise me further on her birth cert or shipping.
Would be interested in any info able to be found on this family :D.

Thanks

The address on 1861 census is Underwood (not Underwood St) -no house numbers are given . The no 18 is the schedule number
Underwood is a village in the parish of Plympton St Mary

Thanks for the refs, I had always thought that the father John also migrated, but I guess I was wrong, thanks for clearing that up. So now may be able to find when they arrived in Australia without John. Also will try and located John's death. Also the birth of Harriet thank u.

I think the birth reg Jackie gave is the correct one

The 1851 census was taken on 30 Mar 1851 and Harriet was recorded as being 11 mths old

Harriet's mother was also a widow on that census

1851
Village of Underwood Plympton St Mary Devon
Mary Ann Trustcott Head widow 28 pauper Millbrook Cornwall
Joseph son 8 Agricultural servant  Colebrook Devon (Colebrook is a village in parish Plympton St Mary)
Mary 3 daughter Shaugh Devon
Harriett daughter 11mth Underwood Devon
Mary Weeks Lodger widow 49 Pauper Stonehouse Devon
HO107 1877 503 4

Did Mary Ann maybe remarry?

Suz,
It's getting interesting, wonder if she did remarry?
I will try and find their entry into Australia it may help.
