Ray  Isabella married a Walter Scott aged 27yrs on 22-12-1882 at Selkirk. he was a woolen factory worker and she a power loom weaver. She is shown as living at 2 dunsdale cottages and him Beechbank selkirk. His parents were William Scott and Jane grieve i notice on the wedding cert that the witness was a Margaret Emond so it maybe another sister.Thats the good news but the bad news is that she died in 1902 aged 45yrs. The headstone in Brierylaw cemetery is badly corroded and reads isabella----beloved wife of ----Scott died 30th--------aged 45ys..
I traced the wedding cert to match it up.,
There is no trace of others in Selkirk cemeteries with headstones but the War Memorial shows a William Preston but i got no trace on the War graves web site!!
you can have the cert for isabella if you want it . I am from Selkirk and transcribed all the 3 selkirk cemeteries if you need any other help.

There was a Sergeant William Preston Killed 26th October 1917, aged 21. He was in the Machine Gun Corps. His father was William Preston, a carter, who was born in Fauldshope in 1859.

It may be him?

Out of interest. Is Jane Emond the daughter of William Emond and his wife Isabel Dalgleish? There are so many Janes I am curious. Thank you.

Joseph Preston (son of John) had a son William born 20 Feb 1890, who was killed in action in France 18 September 1918.  Joseph was my great grandfather.  He married Helen Inglis 10 June 1887 @ Selkirk.   This family is the Joseph who is mentioned in Post #5.  Nillie (Helen) was my grandmother, who emigrated to NZ with her husband and children in 1925.

Hi, i am not sure if this is too late or irrelevant, but My side of the family Anderson's married into the Emond side and they lived in Dunsdale cottages also according to the 1841 census, one thing to consider is that "my" descendants moved to Australia as did a lot of Emonds, so maybe your side did that also?

Where did you find the house number in the census? mine Just lists it as Dunsdale cottages?

Good luck
