 Hi Heather,
this is abit off topic but I saw your earlier search in 2011 for John Northover Reid Atwooll. My grandfather was his younger brother  Earnest Joseph Poswillo born in Gisborne NZ.   There were also a number of girls born  to Annie Northover Reid and Leon Poswillo. John was always known as Poswillo by his siblings who were unaware that he was not Leon's son. He has a number of decendants named Poswillo living across NZ and at least one grandaughter in Australia, Barbara. I can provide more information if you need it.

hope this is useful

Hello Alison,
My grandmother was Augusta May Poswillo born 1885 and her husband Edwin James Ridler was friends with John in Petone and he took Edwin home to Gisborne to meet the family and that is how they met, according to family legend, Edwin was born 1871 so was a wee bit older than grandma.  Don't think John went to their wedding in 1907, my aunt could name most of the wedding party but John was never mentioned, think it was about the time he moved to Blenheim so maybe not able to make the trip to Gisborne.  I have a couple of photos from the family suitcase of unnamed photos that could be of John and wonder if maybe you may be able to say yes it is or no it's not, there are others of Poswillo ladies that I can't say for sure who they are.
The most I know about John's family is one son was a well renowned medical specialist in England and that's about it, so any information would be most welcome to add to the family tree.
Leon and Annie's marriage record has so far eluded me, on her death cert the marriage date is of her marriage to John Thomas Attwooll, but in London not Portland.
Cheers

Hello Heather,
If the medical specialist you are referring to is David Ernest Poswillo who was first a dental surgeon in Christchurch and then a faciomaxillary surgeon and univerisity professor n London, he was in fact my mother's brother and Ernest's son not John's. His daughter, my cousin Jill, also lives in Sydney.

Ernest was about 20 years younger than John, who I know had a couple of decendants in Blenheim including another David Poswillo who was a pharmacist. His sister Barbara married someone called Ken Harrigan and was living in Griffith NSW last I heard in the 1990s when she was in her 60s.

I am visiting my mother this afternoon and will see if she has any more information I can share with you.
regards
Alison
