Evan Davies Clockmaker Kidwelly

Evan was the Clockmaker in Kidwelly. We know  a reasonable amount about him. His father was David Davies and Evan was born in Llandyfaelog. There are several Evan's born to David. From Evan's death certificate, he was 94 when he died in 1890. That means he was born in 1796. There are also a couple of contenders for Evan's mother, the most likely is Jane Richard. Evan had 5 children with his first wife, Elizabeth Randell. Rebecca married David Charles, Elizabeth married James Morris. Ann and Mary died as infants and Francis married Emma Helder and came to Australia. Is there anyone out there in RootsChat land with any connection to this branch of the Davies clan?

Hello Stacey, Your email address was removed from your reply by RootsChat. I don't think that we have the same Evan and Elizabeth. Evan only had 5 children by Elizabeth Randell ( d/o Capt. Francis Randell from Devon) and after she died in 1835, married Eliz Wilkins in 1838 and another 6 children. He lived his whole life in Kidwelly and all his children were born there. Do you have a birth record for Griffith Davies giving his place of baptism as St Mary's, Kidwelly? I can't find any record of a Griffith Davies being born there. Plenty of them about Wales who have been born elsewhere. I know that Evan Davies is the most common name in Wales which just make sorting out the one that we want even harder. My Evan was born in LLandyfealog and his father was David. Cheers, Meg Davis
