James Hardy bc1786 civil parish: Bunwell
« on: Friday 13 December 13 22:10 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find an index which will point to James baptism record,  then I can order a copy from the Norwich Record Office.

What I have:
1841 census
James Hardy b1786
Place: Norfolk
Civil Parish: Bunwell
Hundred: Depwade
Reg. District: Depwade
Sub reg:  Forncett
Piece, 757  Book 3, Folio 17, Page 1

1851 census
James Hardy b1785
Place: Carleton Role Norfolk
Civil Parish:  Bunwell
County:  Norfolk
Reg Distrect: Depwade
Sub Reg: Harleston
Vessel 9b, Household Schedule 89, Piece:1821, Folio 865, page23

Both these records refer to the same person.

I have looked - Norfolk Bishop's Transcripts there is one record for a James Hardy,  Depwade district, Aslacton 1744.  This is a known transcription error should read Samuel Hardy, so discounted.  Nothing else shows up

Freereg shows a James Hardy birth/baptism June 1784 Norwich St Stephens, file4487.

Can somebody cast an eye over the above and suggest an index that agrees with the census records.

Thanks for any help

Mike.

Thanks Claire,  That is weird, that date happens to be my birthday!! the 23 March so that must have some credence!! I must have missed that one when I looked on the Norfolk Bishop's Transcripts.  Just looked again and I think the Mother's name is Susan Hardy
