Just so people know a location
Alfred Harding to Olwyan Smith in Neath   dec qtr  1914 ....
Thomas Harding to Ellen Taylor in Swansea dec qtr 1886 ...
Alfred Harding b sept qtr 1888 in Swansea is the most likely birth in regards of location ...
presumably we need to find Thomas /Ellen/Arthur in 1891 census in Swansea ?
an occupation might help to match to 1881 census ...
oakes,liverpool..neston..backford..poulton cum spittal(bebington)middlewich,cheshire......   sacht,helgoland  .......merrick,herefordshire adams,shropshire...tipping..ellis..  jones,garston,liverpool..hartley.dunham massey..barker. salford

Good morning
I've had a look at this again looking at the births for Thomas Harding in the east end of London 1850-1856.Thomas from Wales says he is born 1855/1854/1854 on the census but 1851 on his death registration.
This gives us 4 possibilities
Thomas June 1850 Stepney                   (s of William and Amelia)
Thomas Samuel June 1854 Bethnal green(s of Thomas Samuel and Hilly)
Thomas William Sep 1854 Stepney         (s of Thomas )
Thomas June 1855 Shoreditch.              (s of Samuel and Elizabeth Topsham Harding)
I've eliminated 3 of them for the following reasons,in reverse order
Thomas born June 1855  is with his brother and sister on the 1891 census in London
Thomas William  Sep 1854 is marrying for the second time in Stepney in 1895
Thomas Samuel June 1854 seems to have had  a younger brother Thomas Samuel born 1860,and he seems to have died Sep 1859.
This leaves the first one  to William and Amelia Harding.
1851 census 10 Henry St Stepney
William R Harding 26 cheesemonger Westminster
Amelia  30 Axminster
Elizabeth 3 Stepney
Thomas 1 Stepney
1861 Alford Terrace
William 39 railway official Westminster
Amelia  41
John 15 tobacco booker clerk st George in the East
Elizabeth 13
Thomas 11
Amelia 3
William died 11.3.1865.His Will gives his name as William RobinsonHarding the same as Thomas's eldest son.He was of 16 York Terrace Salamons Lane  railway inspector to widow Amelia £200.
They had married at Paddington St James 13.11.1842
William Robinson Harding full age Cheesemonger Hall Park s of John servant
Amelia Restwick Hall Park do James slater
wit William Hogg and Ann Restwick .Both the Restwicks made their mark.
William Robinson Harding was baptised at Westminster St Margarets 14.7.1822 born 7.5.1822 to John and Elizabeth Tothill St pork butcher.
1871 census 109 Walworth road
Thomas Harding 50 oilman Westminster
Emma 44 Dulwich
Emma 18 Newington
Alice 16 Newington
Thomas 20 nephew  shopman Stepney
I can't find Thomas in 1881 census.
I should stress that buying Thomas's marriage to Ellen Taylor would prove it one way or the other

Got a marriage for John and Elizabeth.
St James Westminster 22.5.1817 to Elizabeth Robinson.
Other children John born 27.5.1820 baptised with William
Joseph 13.12.1827 St John's Westminster born 3.11.1827 Vincent St prok butcher
Elizabeth Rebecca born 1826

1851 census 13 Regent St
John Harding 55 widower retired pork butcher Westminster St Margarets
John 30 oilman same
Elizabeth 25
1861 they are at same address but both John's are fundholders.
1871 15 Grovesnor Cottages Lambeth
1881 30 Millbrook Road Lambeth
John Searle Harding dies in Lambeth June 1883 1d 317 age 87
Strangely in 1841 he is in Marsham St living with brother Thomas 41 oilman and sister in law Elizabeth 41 and a cab driver.
The poor law overseers returns of 1864 have him owing no 66 and 67 Marsham St ,with Thomas joint owning no 66 and son John owning 35-39 Medway St.
So they weren't short of a bob or two.
It looks like their parents were Thomas Harding (1766-1850)who married Rebecca Searle(1767-1815) St Martin in the Fields 1791 (Pallots marriage index).
Children Maria 1794.Rosetta 1794-98,John Searle 1796 and Thomas 1799
But that's from an online tree and I haven't checked that out.
