searching for William Dyson.
« on: Saturday 28 December 13 13:20 GMT (UK) »
Hello all.

Having now found my 2x great grandfather Frederick Dyson [1877 - 1959], I am now trying to find details of my 3x grandfather.   I know his name was William Dyson, from looking at Fred Dyson's marriage certificate.  I've looked through the census's and found a possible match in 1881, living in the same area of Mexborough, WR Yorkshire.

Married to a Maria ?? there are 7 children named at this stage including a Frederick, going forwards to 1891 the family have move to Wath on Dearne (about 3 miles away).  Another 6 children are named at this stage, but 3 from 1881 are missing.  Maybe 2 older had moved out but the youngest possibly died as he was born in 1880.  Also I think William Died some time after 1911 as he was listed as deceased on Fred's 2nd marriage in 1922.

How can I be certain the above William I've found is my 3x g-grandfather?

Frederick seems to fit with a birth 24 June 1877 to William and Maria.

Father William Dyson - Born 9 Dec 1849 to Colin Dyson and Ann (probably Swallow - Son William was living with his grandfather on 1871 Census - will post below)

Collin Dyson Born 7 October 1821 Wath On Dearne seems to be the son of William Dyson and Hannah.
